Tile And Grout Cleaning Process in Sacramento, CA

Step One: Pre-Test

Your floor will be pre-tested to determine what type of tile it is.

Step Two: Pre-Inspection

Your floor will be inspected for cracked tiles, missing grout, and any other damage. These conditions will be brought to your attention before we begin cleaning.

Step Three: Pre-Condition

Our All Natural solution designed especially for ceramic tile and grout will be generously applied to the floor. Pre-conditioning is great for grout cleaning! This cleaning agent penetrates the grout breaking down dirt, grease, cooking oils, and spills.

Step Four: Scrub

Our dual process scrub begins with three rotating brush heads on a weighted rotary machine scrub the grout lines as well as the tiles. Grout lines are then hand scrubbed with narrow brushes specially designed to uniformly agitate and fit into grout lines.

Step Five: Hot Water Rinse

Our high-powered, truck-mounted equipment acts as a pressure washer with 230 degrees of hot water to rinse away the loosened oil, dirt and grime while simultaneously extracting and containing all of the water.

Step Six: Post Inspection

Your floor will be inspected to determine the effectiveness of the cleaning. Any details will be brought to your attention.

Step Seven: Sealer Applied

After the floor is cleaned a sealer should be applied to the grout. Sealing the grout helps to keep dirt, oils, and spillage from permanently staining the grout.

NOTE: Most grout is not sealed when tile is installed! this leaves your grout vulnerable to staining by dirt, cooking oils, and spillage. Protect your grout today by having it sealed with our “breathable” sealer.

How To Care For Your Tile

Purchase a good quality dust mop and sweep your ceramic tile floors daily. This is especially important in new installations where the grout has not fully cured. Dirt, mud, and sand tend to ground into the grout mortar from heavy foot traffic.

Products That Don’t Actually Help With Grout and Tile Cleaning

Grout and Tile Cleaning

Many homeowners prefer the Swiffer type dust cleaning tools; however, we have noticed they soil the tile quickly by leaving a soapy film and residue. A dry dust mop or water dampened microfiber head attached to a Swiffer purchased from your local big box store (Home Depot, Lowe’s) is a highly effective, green alternative for tile cleaning and grout cleaning.

We do not recommend the use of floor waxes (such as Mop n’ Glo and especially anything labeled “high gloss”) as they can tend to flake in trafficked areas and are difficult to remove uniformly leaving a gummy, splotchy and flaky film atop tile. Proper professional sealer is transparent, allowing the natural appearance of tile and grout to take center stage. As long as your floor is properly sealed and maintained, you should find no need for these products.

Many tile cleaners are acid based and their use should be limited. Always read the manufacturers label to find out. All acids, no matter how weak, will etch marble surfaces. In addition, avoid any cleaner that contains harsh abrasives (such as Comet, SoftScrub or even scrubbing sponges that will remove the protective sealant we apply).

Simple Tips to Prolong The Effects of Tile and Grout Cleaning

Dirt collecting mats could be placed in frequently used entrances and shaken out weekly. Our preference would be to choose 100 percent cotton mats or ones without a rubber backing. The chemical reaction between the rubber and most floors will leave a yellow discoloration pattern that cannot be removed.

Shower stall and tub enclosures should have proper ventilation. Stagnant water breeds stain, causing mildew as well as other fungi.

Mop or sponge your tile down 2 to 3 times weekly. Mix 1 capful of dishwashing liquid per gallon of hot water. Mop up excess water and allow to dry. Buffing with a dry towel will help to reduce spotting.
